BREAKING: Adamawa State Governor Begins Payment of N70,000 Minimum Wage

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has begun paying the newly approved N70,000 minimum wage to state workers.

Multiple sources, including state workers confirmed the development, describing the governor as a “man of his word.”

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had signed the Minimum Wage bill into law in July, following a prolonged negotiation with organized labour.

With many governors expressing concerns about their ability to pay the increased wage due to economic constraints, Governor Fintiri has become the first state governor aside from those in Lagos and Edo states to implement the new minimum wage.

Lagos and Edo State government said their workers were already being paid a minimum of N70,000 monthly.

While State workers in Adamawa are paid the minimum wage, local government workers are set to start receiving the increased salary in September.
