A ranking member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima has dismissed President Bola Tinubu’s planned cabinet reshuffle as a mere “job for the boys.”
Galadima’s comments come amidst speculation about the impending reshuffle, which the presidency confirms will take place but has not provided a timeline.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Galadima argued that Nigerians face more pressing concerns, such as alleviating the harsh living conditions, and that the cabinet reshuffle would not yield meaningful change.
“No amount of reshuffling can make a difference,” he stated. “As far as that team is only ‘job for the boys,’ nothing will come out of it.”
Galadima believes that Tinubu’s appointees prioritize personal gain over service delivery. “He should be told that some of his appointees are more interested in their pockets than service delivery,” he said.
The NNPP stalwart expressed disappointment in Tinubu’s performance, citing unmet expectations. “I expected him to do better than this; and to hit the ground running,” Galadima noted. He urged the president to address the country’s foreign exchange crisis, which has severely impacted the naira’s value.
Galadima said Tinubu is responsible for his cabinet’s performance. “Anybody that calls himself president or governor is responsible for their cabinet’s performance,” he said.
