BREAKING: Again, Court Stops PDP From Conducting National Convention

The Federal High Court in Abuja has once again stopped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from holding its planned national convention.

Justice Peter Lifu issued the order on Tuesday after hearing an application filed by former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido.

The judge ruled that the convention must not proceed until the main suit before the court is fully determined.

He also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to supervise or recognise any outcome from the convention, pending the conclusion of the case.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the PDP had scheduled the convention for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Justice Lifu held that Lamido’s application had merit and should be granted in the interest of justice.

According to him, allowing the party to continue with the event could cause irreversible harm to the former governor’s rights as a member of the PDP.

Lamido, in his suit, argued that the party was acting in violation of its constitution by fixing the convention without proper notice and procedures.

He also told the court that the move would deny him a fair chance to contest for the office of national chairman.

It would be recalled that Justice James Omotosho had earlier, on October 31, granted a similar order stopping the PDP from conducting the same convention.

The latest ruling further extends the party’s internal leadership crisis, which has continued to delay its planned reorganisation ahead of 2027.

The matter has been adjourned for the hearing of the substantive case later today.

  1. Maybe the party should just change its name and absorb the remaining structure on ground.. maybe the sleeping dog will be allowed to lie.

  2. This one too is it Wike? Is Lamido Wike’s ally too? The ambitions of Bala Mohammed and Makinde is killing the PDP finally from where Atiku and Ayu left it in the ICU before running to ADC. Do the right thing they refuse and they are blaming Tinubu. You have miscarriage its Tinubu. Salt pass your soup it’s Tinubu. I wonder why Ned and Regina are yet to blame their differences on Tinubu. This time maybe Makinde and Bala would shift to Bauchi state high court and procure another counter order.
