President Bola Tinubu is meeting with some speakership aspirants at the State House, Abuja.
Politics Nigeria reports that this comes barely one week before the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly.
The meeting, which began around 7 pm, has a member representing Pankshin/Kanke/ Federal Constituency of Plateau State, Yusuf Gadgi; a member representing Jibia / Kaita Federal Constituency, Sada Sol and a member representing Okigwe North Federal Constituency, Miriam Onuoha, amongst others, present.
Also, some members of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, including its National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore, are at the meeting.
Recall that Tinubu recently settled for Tajudeen Abass as his preferred choice for the position of speaker of the House of Representatives.
This, however did not go well with some lawmakers.
However, despite the pledge by leading aspirants for the Speakership position to abide by the APC zoning arrangement, there are fears of a revolt by some of those angling for the exalted seat if the party’s decision doesn’t favour them eventually.
To stamp his authority, the president is now meeting with some aspirants to appease them.
