The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali reportedly rejected a report by a panel setup to investigate the indictment of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI.
According to Punch, the IGP rejected an earlier report submitted by the four-man Panel led by Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, Joseph Egbunike.
POLITICS NIGERIA earlier reported that Kyari got into trouble after a US court issued a warrant for his arrest over his alleged involvement in a $1.1m Internet fraud allegedly perpetrated by an Instagram influencer, Abbas Ramon, popularly known as Hushpuppi and four others; AbdulRahman Juma ; Vincent Kelly Chibuzo (Kelly); Rukayat Motunrayo Fashola; and Bolatito Agbabiaka.
The FBI claimed that Kyari detained Chibuzor at the behest of Hushpuppi for one month to enable the latter and his co-conspirators to fleece their Qatari victim of over $1m.
However, Kyari has appeared before the panel several times since it was setup and has fiercely defended himself against the allegations.
The Panel submitted a report to the IG last week but was rejected for being to ‘lenient’ on the Super Cop.
The panel resubmitted another report on Monday after the IGP expressed discomfort with panel’s earlier findings and recommendations.

The question I will like to ask about this investigation is that, did the panel ask why the person in question collected this money? Secondly he can be a friend to any Nigerian
I advise Nigerian to hand him over to FBI so that he will provide his innocent in the court of law.

Definitely they will shield him. He is one of them. If IGP wants to get an accurate report on d case, he should invite independent investigators outside the police. If he is serious on getting the fact from this case.
IGP don’t want abaa kyari to mention his name because abaa kyari once threatened to do so ,they are both conspiracy group who do share Ill money gotten from the super cop

Yes, there appearing to be cover up not only by the panel members, including IGP himself, if the Nigeria police from their investigations soft with KYARI that do not stop the prosecutor juridictions accepting police decision, above all it’s a let down to all of us in Nigeria, hunter that becomes hunted, is this our proud celebrated cops?
It’s totally fallacious for the IGP to have rejected a panel reports which he setup on ground of over liniency.
It’s very unheard of in any board of inquiry, unless the IGP wants to toy with the people’s intelligence.
The IGP is only playing a costly game and am happy that the US Intelligence Agency are smarter than the IGP.
I think the IGP is playing games. He’s just trying to pool wool of nigerians’ eyes. He just want to delay, buy time and set Kyari free.
