Festus Keyamo (SAN), the spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council, has said the United States (US) “begged” Bola Tinubu to forfeit his monetary assets in 1993.
Keyamo spoke on Wednesday evening during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, monitored by POLITICS NIGERIA.
Over the past few months, there has been public scrutiny of the background of Tinubu, APC presidential flag-bearer.
The former Lagos State governor has been accused of alleged involvement in drug trafficking in the US.
On Tuesday, social media was awash with alleged fresh copies of a settlement order issued by a US court domiciled in the northern district of Illinois regarding forfeiture of funds in some bank accounts linked to Tinubu.
Speaking on the matter, Keyamo stated that the topic was brought up by the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and that the fuss is unnecessary as Tinubu was not guilty at all.
“A forfeiture is not something hanging on your neck. It is a permanent settlement, and everybody shakes hands.
“Now look at that settlement signed by the counsel to Asiwaju then and the Counsel to the United States. I want you to look at paragraph six, page two of that settlement, in that paragraph six, they were even begging Asiwaju. They said that look, don’t proceed against us again.
“This is a final settlement between us. Go your way, we go our way.
“Out of the 10 accounts (linked to Tinubu in the US), it was only one account, the one in Heritage Bank that they took $460,000 as tax on interest. The United States were begging him,” Keyamo said.

Keyamo was doing his paid job and what do you expect? The bottom line is dat there is no known credible aspirants amongst available aspirants.
And, apart from dat, d 1999 constitution is repudiated by NINAS and not relenting on her publicity. The breakup is inevitable if, Tinubu would not have paid d supreme price to his creator be4 then.

Wonders they say can never end, imagine US begging Tinubu for 460k$. This is extremely ridiculous, unbelievable. I don’t know how some one could be begged to forfeit your hard earned money and you just accept without querying it and then you shook hands with the person that’s intimidating you to part with your money. Somebody is begging you not to proceed against him and you are paying the person for you not to go against him. Instead of you being paid off to encourage you not to proceed against them, you are paying them to not proceed against them. A beg mek una go learn how to lie
