It was gathered the legal luminary died around 1 am in his home in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. The father of the former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Jumoke Akinjide, has been sick for about three years before his death.

2. President Buhari mourns Richard Akinjide

President Muhammadu Buhari has mourned the death of the former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Richard Akinjide (SAN). The Nigerian leader mourned Akinjide in a condolence message issued by his media aide, Femi Adesina, to the government of Oyo State, the Olubadan-in-Council and the Akinjide family, on Tuesday.

Speaking with BBC Hausa on Tuesday, Funtua disclosed that he would rather be employing people than struggling for government appointment.

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the Federal government to immortalize Ex-Attorney General of the Federation, Richard Akinjide, who died on Tuesday. POLITICS NIGERIA reported how the former Justice Minister was brought dead to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, on Tuesday. The PDP, in a statement signed by its Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, said it mourns the death of elder statesman, foremost legal icon, former Minister of Education, former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice.

6. How FG denied 5 Governors approval to fly amidst COVID-19 Lockdown

The Nigerian Government has revealed that 5 Governors have been denied approval to fly out of their states amidst the lockdown in place to curb the spread of COVID-19. POLITICS NIGERIA learned this during a Presidential task force briefing on COVID-19 on Tuesday. Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika made the statement while dismissing rumours that the government was giving special approvals to the elite to fly amidst the lockdown.

7. 59 New Cases of COVID-19 recorded in Lagos as tally hits 782

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has just announced that 117 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the country. In a statement on Tuesday night, the centre revealed that 59 new cases have been recorded in Lagos alone.

8. Rumour of Nnamdi Kanu’s death trends on Social Media

Nigerian Social Media is currently buzzing after a rumour alleging that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu has died.Kanu, the pro-secessionist leader who is known for being a strong critic of the Muhammadu Buhari administration, trended on Social media platform, Twitter on Tuesday night after self-acclaimed journalist and broadcaster, Kemi Olunloyo tweeted of his ‘death’.

9. COVID-19: President Buhari Seeks Release Of More Prisoners

President Muhammadu Buhari has sought the release of “deserving” prisoners across the Correctional centers in the country amidst the coronavirus pandemic. The Nigerian leader made this known on Tuesday in a letter addressed to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ibrahim Muhammad.

10. Two Policemen killed at Atiku Abubakar’s Factory

Two Policemen have reportedly been killed in a factory belonging to Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar in Adamawa State. The officers, an assistant superintendent of police, ASP Yohanna and a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Gbenga were killed during an inspection operation at RicoGado Animal feed factory. A spokesperson for the police in the state, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the killing of the men to Sahara reporters.
