A former Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, has reacted to the invasion of his residence in the Toru-Orua area of the state.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that gunmen on Wednesday night invaded Dickson’s residence through the Forcados River, killing one police officer in the process. It was learned that the former governor and his family were away in Abuja during the break-in.
In a statement personally signed by him on Thursday, the former governor condemned the attack on his house, saying that “this period is indeed a trying one for the country”.
He noted that the State Commissioner of Police and heads of other security agencies have begun an investigation into the attack in order to bring the perpetrators to justice. Dickson noted that every available resource will be used to fish out those behind the cruel act.
The former governor asked his supporters to give relevant information to the police to aid their investigation into the crime, urging them to remain calm to await the outcome of the police probe.
Dickson, however, commiserated with the immediate family of the late police officer, and the Nigeria Police Force and the Bayelsa State Police Command on the death of the gallant policeman.
