Sanwo-Olu Makes U Turn, Cancels Curfew In Lagos

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has cancelled the dawn to dusk curfew imposed in the state as a measure to curb the coronavirus spread in the Southwest state.

POLITICS NIGERIA had reported that the governor while giving an update on coronavirus in the state on Friday, said the curfew will start from 8pm to 6am on Sunday until further notice.

Sanwo-Olu added the domestic airport will be shut for a period of two weeks and that the total lockdown of the state is imminent.

However, in a statement on the Twitter handle of the state government on Saturday, it said there is no curfew in the state as been reported in various media, adding that everything remains the way they are.

The statement noted that the governor dropping the idea of imposing a curfew in the state meant to allow the fumigation exercise of public space.

It added that the governor relied on expert’s advice on the disinfectant which they said it is non-toxic, noting that the exercise has commenced.

The statement said the governor noted that if there is a need for curfew, the government will not hesitate to impose it.

However, When this newspaper reached out to the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Gbenga Akosile, via Text message, he simply replied that there is no curfew in the state.

He replied: “There is no curfew”.

  1. I think it better for the media not to induce panic to the public by giving false news or information on the actions or approach of Lagos government on the containment of covid 19. Do not misinform the public.
