South-East Governors to meet FG to discuss security, Nnamdi Kanu

South-East governors are planning to meet with the Federal Government to discuss issues regarding Igbo Youth, including the release of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Governors agreed that cultists, armed robbers, and kidnappers used IPOB’s name to conduct crime and kill innocents in the region.

They are committed to reaching political solutions by stopping all the illegal sit-at-home orders and violence by the various state agitators in the South-East.

Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum David Nweze Umahi signed a statement covering the plan.

“We have identified some of the spokespersons of some of these groups and we have been engaging them to stop all forms of violence and illegalities in Southeast,” the statement read.

The governors thanked religious leaders, the Conference of Bishops and Archbishops of Southeast, the traditional institutions of South-East, and the Christian Association of Nigeria of South-East for assisting in mediations on the matter.

“We are confident that through our mediation, that of religious leaders, Ohaneze Ndigbo and traditional rulers, IPOB will see reasons to call off all sit-at-home orders, including the recent one of 5th to 10th November 2021,” the statement further read.

The governors also encouraged citizens to go out and vote on the Anambra election on November 6, 2021. They will also ensure a free, fair, and violence-free election.
