The Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District, Ali Ndume on Monday congratulated Reverend Amos Musa Mohzo on his re-election as the President of the Church of Christ In Nations (COCIN).
Ndume who hails from the same Gwoza Local Government Area as the COCIN president urged him to ensure he remains committed to strengthening religious harmony across different faiths in the country.
Citing the recent controversial allegations of Christian genocide and threat of military invasion by the United States of America under Donald Trump’s administration, Ndume urged Mohzo to continue to use the COCIN platform to promote peace among the people.
He stated that he has followed up on the cleric’s growth from a trained teacher to Deputy General Secretary, General Secretary, Vice President, and now a two-term COCIN president.
The lawmaker said that Mohzo’s rise in leadership is a testament to his unwavering committment to community development.
His words, “I have known you over the years as a humble, God-fearing personality, which informed your divine calling. I have shown interest in your career trajectory over the years.
“You have remained an asset to our community in Gwoza, where you started early in life, imparting knowledge and mentoring people as a trained teacher,” Ndume said.
He further reminded the cleric that Nigeria is in a critical moment in its history where external forces are sponsoring narratives aimed at instigating religious divides among citizens.
He said that with the experience of managing people of diverse faiths and cultures bestowed upon him, Mohzo should seize the opportunity to assist the Nigerian government in promoting peace, trust and harmony among citizens of different religions.
“I urge you and others in leadership positions of faith-based associations in the country to seize the initiative to assist the government in promoting mutual trust amongst Nigerians of diverse faiths,” he said.
