Lamidi Apapa, the factional chairman of the Labour Party (LP), has disclosed his course of action if invited by President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for reconciliation talks.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that during a recent interview on Arise Television on Thursday, Apapa shared his stance on the matter.
He stated, “Before I honour him, I will consult with the party’s executive. If they give me the go-ahead, I will proceed. It will not be my personal decision. If they instruct me to go and see him or if we collectively decide to visit him, it will become the party’s position, not just Alhaji Bashiru Lamidi Apapa’s position. We will collectively meet with him if we have the mandate from the party.”
It is worth recalling that Apapa and his faction have been engaged in a power struggle with the suspended National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, regarding the party’s leadership.
Furthermore, the faction aligned with Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, clashed with him in court. In the incident, Apapa was placed under protective custody by security operatives at the Court of Appeal in Abuja during the Presidential Election Petition Court proceedings.
Following the adjournment of the petition to continue the pre-hearing session, Apapa faced a mob of youths who had gathered at the court. It was during this encounter that Apapa expressed his discontent and threatened to expose Obi, as he believed Obi was taking sides with Abure, the LP chairman who was removed by the court.
