Coronavirus: Shehu Sani berates Wike over alleged ‘secession’

The former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Sheu Sani, has berated the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, over alleged secession.

The former lawmaker in a post on his Twitter handle argued that all citizens have the right to pass through any state as far as Nigeria is concerned.

POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that Mr Wike shut the office of Carveton Helicopters in the state for violating the COVID-19 lockdown directive of the state government.

The governor argued that the closure is to protect citizens against the spread of Coronavirus.

Also, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, condemned the arrest of Carveton Helicopter pilots, and passengers onboard the concerned flight.

Mr Sani, however, took to Twitter in the early hours of Thursday. He said the Rivers state government’s action is a symptom of ‘secession’.

“No state has the right to deny Nigerian citizens from other states the right of passage to or through. Doing so is symptomatic of secessionist tendencies.

“This is what groups accused of plotting or planning secession were told sometimes ago”, the former lawmaker said.
