JUST IN: Court adjourns Ned Nwoko’s case against Sowore

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday adjourned the case of defamation brought by a former lawmaker, Ned Nwoko, against 2023 presidential aspirant, Omoyele Sowore.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the case could not go ahead due to the inability to serve Sowore’s media outlet, Sahara Reporters. It was subsequently adjourned to April 25.

Sowore had been slammed with charges of “cyberstalking”.

Supporters showed solidarity with the African Action Congress (AAC) chieftain as they displayed his campaign posters within the court premises.

For his vociferous anti-government campaigns, Sowore has been arrested and detained about eight times in various detention centres in the last few years. Regardless, he has remained consistent in his activism.

The 51-year-old has come under heavy criticism, and is viewed by some Nigerians as a rabble-rouser, an attention seeking activist, blackmailer and opposition propagandist. Despite the criticisms, Sowore remains unperturbed and is seen in some quarters as the ‘Conscience of the Nigerian Nation’.
