1. “Be Like Chadian President Who Led Fight Against Boko Haram” – PDP Tells Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has charged President Muhammadu Buhari to emulate Chadian President, Idriss Deby, who personally led his troops to attack the insurgents and freed Nigerian territories in Borno state. POLITICS NIGERIA learned that Chadians troops had on Saturday launched an offensive against the insurgents in the Goje-Chadian area of Sambisa forest, a stronghold of Boko Haram. The operation, led by Chadian President Déby, lasted for hours with the soldiers clearing the insurgents off the area.

2. Governor Wike speaks on dropping ‘Immunity’ to deal with Coronavirus

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Tuesday declared that he is willing to set aside his immunity to testify against persons who violate the state’s border closure regulations aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus. Speaking at the office of the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Dandaura in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, following the arrest of two pilots of Carveton Helicopters who illegally transported expatriates to the State, Governor Wike said that the protection of Rivers people is an important assignment that must be executed with the seriousness it deserves.

3. President Buhari Sends Solidarity Message To British PM, Boris Johnson

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has sent a solidarity message to the Prime minister of Britain, Boris Johnson who is currently in intensive care after contracting the deadly Coronavirus(COVID-19). Buhari wished the British PM a speedy recovery and restoration to full health.

4. Wamakko Is Dead, President Buhari Mourns

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed profound grief over the death of Dangaladiman Wamakko, the younger brother of Senator Aliyu Wamakko from Sokoto State. In a reaction to the sad news, the President said, “I am deeply touched by the demise of your brother who was a very dedicated community leader that not only shared your best aspirations but also committed himself to promoting them.”

5. Kidnappers Release Bauchi Governor’s Elder Brother

Kidnappers have released Adamu Mohammed Duguri, the elder brother of Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State. State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP  Kamal Abubakar, confirmed the news to journalists on Tuesday evening. He added that the governor’s elder brother has reunited with his family after regaining his freedom. Politics Nigeria had reported that Duguri was abducted by gunmen in Bauchi at about 7:30pm on March 26th.

6. 16 New Cases Of Coronavirus Recorded In Nigeria As Tally Hits 254

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has announced the discovery of 16 new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria. In a statement via its twitter timeline, Nigeria currently has 254 cases of COVID-19.

7. Doctor Dies Of Coronavirus In President Buhari’s Village

A medical doctor has died of Coronavirus in Daura, Katsina State. POLITICS NIGERIA gathered that the doctor, Aliyu Yakubu died from complications of COVID-19 at the Airforce Reference hospital in Daura. The development was confirmed by the state governor, Aminu Masari on Tuesday evening. Yakubu, 60, owned a private hospital in Daura. He had returned from a trip to Lagos before falling ill and was rushed to the hospital where he gave up the ghost. The deceased’s samples tested positive for COVID-19.

8. Coronavirus Lockdown: FG Reacts To Funke Akindele’s Arrest, Conviction

The Federal Government has reacted to the arrest and conviction of popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele and her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello. The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, on Tuesday, applauded the arrest and prosecution of the duo. The actress hosted a house party in celebration of her husband’s birthday amidst Coronavirus lockdown on Saturday with over 20 attendees. Mrs Akindele was arrested on Sunday and moved to Panti where her husband joined her on Monday morning. They were Arraigned and both pleaded guilty before Ogba Magistrate court. They were sentenced to 14 days of community service and a fine of N100,000 each.

9. Why Northern Elders Forum Is A ‘Dead Horse’ – Buhari Media

The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has rejected what it described as uninformed and misleading muddling of facts by the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), under the guise of criticizing the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic by the Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government. It urged Nigerians to ignore the Forum which it called ‘a dead horse’. In a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Maduke, BMO said members of the NEF are in the habit of “pretentious activism, largely based on ignorance of the popular wishes of Nigerians, especially the Northerners it purports to represent, by speaking out of turn over serious national issues”.

10. Coronavirus: “Nigeria Must Develop A New Budget” – Atiku

Former Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar has said that the Nigerian Government must abandon its 2020 budget and come up with a new one owing to falling oil prices in the wake of the Coronavirus Pandemic. His suggestion was contained in a statement sent to POLITICS NIGERIA on Tuesday.
