Akor Kelechi Kingsley, a 17-year-old Nigerian Boy, is set to attempt the Guinness World Record for the most watermelon eaten in 30 seconds.
Kingsley, who has received approval from Guinness World Records, plans to eat 750g of watermelon in 30 seconds.
The most watermelon eaten in 30 seconds is 675 grammes, achieved by André Ortolf (Germany) in Augsburg, Germany, on August 4, 2018.
The attempt was made at a children’s holiday camp to show how records are attempted.
Meanwhile, some Nigerians are not happy with the development.
According to Olufemi Oduyemi, this shows that Nigeria has a high rate of unemployed people.
He said: ”This nuisance proves that Nigeria has the highest youth unemployed rate in the world PBAT should start giving the youth farm/military work to make the youth more busy and productive.”
Meanwhile, following the surge in attempts to break world records, the Guinness World Records has revealed that they have received about 1,500 applications from Nigerians alone.
The GWR says it is excited about the increased interest from Nigeria, and they are looking forward to reviewing the applications and seeing what amazing feats Nigerians can achieve.
