Former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress, PC, Timi Frank has stated that N100 billion reportedly meant for Nigerians has been ‘shared’ in the Presidential Villa. Frank, a close associate of the former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, made this statement on Thursday evening via Twitter.

2. “Extension Of Lockdown Will Destroy Nigeria” – Arewa Youths Warn President Buhari

The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, AYCF has called on the Nigerian government to desist from extending the lockdown put in place to tackle the spread of COVID-19. Chairman of the group, Shettima Yerima, in a recent interview, expressed concern that the lockdown may ‘collapse’ the entire country. He pointed out that Nigerians were hungry and that extending the lockdown may lead to chaos.

3. 2023 Elections: Nnamdi Kanu Speaks On Tinubu Becoming President Of Nigeria

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has called on Nigerians to push for a revolution in the country. Kanu, speaking during a Radio Biafra broadcast, revealed that it was important for Nigerians to come together and oust the current leadership over the spate killings in the country and the government’s continued push for the installation of 5G.

4. Scammers Hack Enugu Governor’s Mobile Phone

The Enugu statement has issued a statement on Thursday revealing that the private phone number of the Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has been compromised by suspected fraudsters. The statement signed by the state commissioner for information, Hon. Aroh Chidi disclosed that the fraudsters have embarked on calling unsuspecting members of the public with the line.

5. Army Chief, Buratai Sends ‘Special Message’ To Nigerian Troops Fighting Boko Haram

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TY Buratai has encouraged officers and men of Operation lafiya Dole to be strong in what he called “the final clearance of Boko haram and ISWAP terrorists”. Since 2014, the two sects have unleashed terror in the Northern part of the country. However, the words of encouragement from Buratai was contained in a special message to the soldiers which was forwarded to POLITICS NIGERIA on Thursday evening.

6. COVID-19: FG Speaks On ‘People Being Smuggled In Trucks Out Of Lagos’

The Federal Government has expressed concerns about reports of people being smuggled in trucks out of Lagos State amidst the Coronavirus pandemic. During a daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 on Thursday, the national coordinator of the task force, Sani Aliyu, said the community spread of the infection was a result of inter-state travels.

7. FG Releases N220 Billion To Gas Companies For Improved Power Supply

The Ministery of Power has just announced the disbursement of N220 billion naira to Gas companies to ensure the smooth and steady supply of Power to Nigerians. This development was announced via a statement issued by Nigeria’s Minister for Power, Engr. Mamman Saleh on Thursday evening.

8. Taxi Driver Who Stripped Naked Over Lockdown Arrest Jailed For 6 Months

A Magistrate Court in Abuja has jailed a man for stripping naked to protest the impounding of his vehicle/arrest for violating a lockdown order in Abuja. Emmanuel Imhoudu, in a viral video on social media, protested the seizure of his car by the FCT COVID-19 Enforcement Team by stripping naked and screaming. The convict, Emmanuel Imhoudu is to serve 6 months in prison for his offences. In the alternative, he is to pay N10, 000 fine on each of the offences and also make a public apology on any television network.

9. Police Announce Arrest Of Funke Olakunrin’s Killers

The killers of Mrs Funke Olakunrin, the daughter of Afenifere leader Pa Reuben Fasoranti, have been arrested by officers of the Nigeria Police Force. Force Spokesman, DCP Frank Mba, made this known in a statement sent to POLITICS NIGERIA on Thursday.

10. Gov. Diri Reacts To Death Of Nigerian Billionaire Who Died During Liposuction Surgery

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa has mourned the death of a billionaire businessman and politician from the state, Keniebi Okoko. POLITICS NIGERIA had reported that Koko died during a liposuction surgery in a Lagos Hospital after a power outage during the surgery. In a statement on Thursday in Yenagoa by his acting Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, governor Diri said the news of the sudden demise of Okoko was a great shock and pain.
